Easter for Christians is supposed to be a time of joy and happiness, where we rejoice in the beauty of the resurrection.
St. Gregory the Great has a perfect prayer for this occasion, it’s a prayer that can be prayed throughout the Easter season.
He proposed the Prayer as thus:
Oh Father, by thy wondrous condescension of Loving-Kindness toward us, Your servants, You gave up Your only begotten Son. Dear Jesus, You paid for us, the debt of Adam to the Eternal Father by Your Blood which poured forth in Loving-Kindness. You cleared away the darkness of sin by Your magnificent and glorious Resurrection. You broke the bonds of death and you rose from the grave as a Conqueror. You reconciled Heaven and earth. Our life bore no hope of Eternal Happiness before You redeemed us. Your Resurrection has washed away our sins, restored our innocence and brought joy in us. The tenderness of Your Love is inestimable.
We ask You, Lord, to preserve Your servants in the peaceful enjoyment of this Easter happiness. We pray this through Jesus Christ Our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with God The Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen.
