Here’s what you need to do on Easter Monday so as to renew your spirit

According to tradition, in many Slavic countries, Easter Monday is called “Wet Monday,” rather, it is a jovial day when men and women try to douse one another with water.

This particular custom is a fun activity, but it also echoes a profound spiritual truth from Easter.

But spiritually, Easter is supposed to be a season of spiritual regeneration and renewal, where our sins are washed away and we are renewed in spirit.

A better way to remind ourselves of this fundamental truth is to pray Psalm 51. This Psalm is full of beautiful images and it reflects the great mercy of God.

Below are a few passages from Psalm 51 that can be prayed together as a prayer to God during this beautiful Easter season.

(Psalm 51)
Thoroughly wash away my guilt;
and cleanse me from my sin.
Cleanse me with hyssop, that I may be pure;
wash me, that I may be whiter than snow.
You will let me hear gladness and joy;
the bones you have crushed will rejoice.
Turn away your face from my sins;
blot out all my iniquities.
Create a clean heart within me, O God;
renew within me a steadfast spirit.
